Study - On Havernook Lane

Havernook Lane is a small country road around Swinton near Ripon in Yorkshire. This study shows the meandering country lane disappearing from view then reappearing in the middle distance and again in the far distance. Fields of bright yellow buttercups are glimpsed between the trunks of trees in the heavily shadowed foreground. This is a bright summer day but the deep shade of the trees lends an air of mystery and solitude to this scene.
